Movie History: Social Issues and Crime on the Screen

Still a topic today: "White Slavery" and the "Traffic in Souls"

"Traffic in Souls" 1913. Silent movie covering the 10,000 girls who disappear annually (back then) and are forced into "white slavery", many for prostitution. 

A woman, with the aid of her police officer sweetheart, endeavors to uncover the prostitution ring that has kidnapped her sister, and the philanthropist who secretly runs it.
