TV Is Americans' Main Source of News

Television is the main place Americans say they turn to for news about current events (55%), leading the Internet, at 21%. Nine percent say newspapers or other print publications are their main news source, followed by radio, at 6%. These statistics are from an extensive Gallup Poll.

Other polls, including the Pew Trust, rank TV as the primary sourse for 80% of Americans. That poll allowed participants to rank and select from multiple media based on personal news consumption. The larger percentage is based on percentage of those who seek out news who say they watch at least one television newscast or  at least a half hour of television news content a day.
