Record Box Office set by "The Avengers"

The Marvel Comics mash-up "The Avengers" launched the summer movie season with a $200.3 million opening weekend domestically, by far the biggest debut ever.

"The Avengers" shot past the previous record of $169.2 million for the debut of last year's "Harry Potter" finale. With $441.5 million overseas since last week, "The Avengers" worldwide total climbed to $641.8 million.

Will the film out-gross "Avatar" and "Titanic"?

I have heard some really great things about this film. I did enjoy Thor, much to my chagrin. James Cameron needs to have one of those snatched from him.

I doubt the avengers will out gross either of those movies. this is a popular film but those films are classics and if you take into consideration for inflation i'm sure they won't come any where near the mark.

The hipe on this movie has been marketed well. Some critics give it three thumbs up. :) I am a Marvel fan and I may just pay the bucks to see this also! I waited for Avatar and Titanic to go to CD but this has my curiosity. We will see if it will out-gross the competition. It has a good start.

It really was a good movie all of you should see it! Me and my bf saw it opening night for his bday because he is a marvel freak! there were people dressed up and stuff. The only thing that made me upset was that I thought in Thor he was not aloud to come back to Earth, but he was in this movie. But then again I fell asleep during that movie.
