Cell cost to go up, way up!

The Chairman of AT&T says that cell and data plan use costs will go up for all consumers as a result of the blocking of their merger with T-Mobil and other consolidation in the industry. There is a limited spectrum and as consumers demand greater use, speed and flexibility the cost of keeping up will increase exponentially. This coming year an increase in overall cell spectrum us of 77% is projected, with as much as a 90% increase the following year. There is not way to keep up with those costs for any single company, without passing on cost to consumers. The loss of merger or consolidation will also slow the availability to consumers of services they are demanding. - Reported in the Wall Street Journal and Consumer Electronics News.

NOOOO!! Why are cell phone one of those things that everyone has to have nowadays. Maybe not so much in the past, but now a high percentage of people rely on their cell phones for everyday use in just about every aspect of life.

Well I am glad I am not with AT&T. Just because they are weeping that they could not merge with T-Mobile? My company was with AT&T and switched to T-Mobile, they didn't want AT&T because of their services to businesses. They need to keep up with techology and keep their customers happy. Don't increase rates, customers will find another carrier.

Of course they would raise the price on things we "NEED" the most. Smart.

The point is all rates will go up because too many companies to invest heavily in redundant technologies and upgrades at tens of billions of dollars each.

I am with T-Mobile and I cannot wait to get out from under my contract. I would love to be less dependant on my cell phone. Life was so much more simpler. Corporate greed is at the center of it all.
