This is funny but a very true statement. I believe things would change rather quickly if this were to happen.

Jeff (Phoenix HUM/114) Politicians are in this for the benefits and all the perks that come with the position. The problem is it wouldn't matter if they made minimum wage or not, but take away the campaign money, the money from the lobbyist, the free travel, etc... Then we would see things change. The issue we face is the need to structure political positions to where they actually work for the people of this nation again and not big businesses and banks. Something needs to drastically change in our political system for our nation to thrive again...

I don't know if that would necessarily change anything- how many educated individuals would really go for this? I mean we are looking at keeping educated folk in office, right? Prefferably some that can read, write and maybe do some basic math. I am sick and tired of these emails!!!! Every week I get some sort of version of this, and the only part that makes sense is that they should not be allowed pay until they come to an agreement. Wages should dropped, just not to the minnimum, that's just ludicrous.

I wonder if anyone bothered to look into how much politicians actually make. What type of politician is the author of this statement referring to? Not all politicians make a six figure income, nor do all of them make loads of money from lobbyist. This statement is an overgeneralization of all politicians.

I cost hundreds of thousands to get local office...millions for congress and billions for the presidency. Of course rich people are the politicians (or business people who know and can sell rich people). What do you expect?

This is so true, if we took away their salaries and gave them 8.25 an hour until stuff got done, the country would be in great shape.
