10 things your dog can teach you

March 26, 2012

10 Things Your Dog Would Tell You.... (This made me cry)

1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful: remember that before you get me.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me- it is crucial to my well being.

4. Do not be angry at me for long, and do not lock me up as punishment.

5. You have your work, your entertainment, and your friends. I only have you.

6. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understands your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking to me.

7. Be aware that how ever you treat me, I will never forget.

8. Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that could easily hurt you, but I choose not to bite you because I love you.

9. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate,or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I might not be getting the right food, or I have been out too long, or my heart is getting to old and weak.

10. Take care of me when I get old; you too will grow old. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: "I cannot bear to watch" or "Let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for me if you are there, even my death.

Mos of all dogs constantly ask, no, make you remember that they love you.

No matter what, dogs will always love and care for you. Rich or poor, super busy or not your dog will remain faithful and loyal to you till death. If you have a dog, love it like crazy!

Aww this is so true! I Just got my 1st dog in december and even though she can be a handful sometimes, I would never trade her for anything. Dogs are really smart and know alot. THey can be alot of work but they are sort of like your children. #1 on this list is so true. Even when you leave your dog, for example at the groomer, you can tell they are going to go crazy without you! Animals have such a huge impact on us!

well said people who are cruel to animals should put to the same cruelty, no one should get an animal if they are not prepared to do these things and more.

So true and yet tough sometimes to be brave for your pets. The thought of either of my dogs leaving me breaks my heart, but I will hold them in the end. Perhaps I can have more patience with them.

I feel like this is exactly what my dog would say. It's really an eye opener. I think the saddest part is number 5, we all do get caught up in our own lives that we forget to spend as much time as needed with our dogs.

I liked this piece. It gave me some perspective on how dogs think. I wished I had a dog to raise until it got old.
