ANIMALS BANNED FROM THE STRIP?
Animals would be okay on the Strip from 5 am to noon, except for snakes which are never okay: Resort Corridor Workgroup tries to help commissioner Chris Giunchigliani balance homeless advocacy, animal advocacy and the compulsion to ban something
Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani's ordinance to ban pets from the Strip to get public hearing March 6: "I got calls and I got emails from the Las Vegas Humane Society… from tourists that were here complaining about itty bitty kittens and itty bitty puppies being used for the purposes of panhandling"
"Ms. Giunchigliani's concern for the critters is admirable, but it appears unlikely this one-size-fits-all ordinance will be either effective or legally defensible."
Chris Guichigliani: "If you're going to have your animal out there and you're using them for panhandling purposes you should be able to prove out that those pets were not just taken so that you could try to solicit money"
