The terms "redskins," "chiefs," "savages," and "warriors" have been used by collegiate athletic teams for the last 100 years. However, these monikers have come under heavy criticism from some within the Native American community for perpetuating images of indigenous people as warlike and barbaric. Please join us this evening as Native American panelists discuss this issue from a tribal or "Indian" perspective. The program will be held at 6pm in D-101 on the West Charleston Campus.
Brought to you by the Native American Heritage Month Committee of CSN.
The U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will be at CSN's Horn Theatre for a town hall on education with several panelists from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The event, which will be moderated by NSHE Chancellor Dan Klaich, is free and open to the public and will be web cast live. A link is located on the CSN homepage in the Event's Section.
