Takes a Licking, product abuse advertising returns, this time on YouTube.

Television newsman John Cameron Swayze began starring in the long-running Timex series of commercials, including one where a wristwatch was attached to an arrowhead and shot through a plate of glass to demonstrate, as the slogan put it, “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.”
Now an all new generation of products are taking their licking in abuse tests as advertising, starting with corporate campaigns on You Tube. 
A new breed of ads is recalling that punishment tests from a durable Timex campaign. Warranty company Square Trade posts videos showing electronics devices being misused and damaged. The New York Times (tiered subscription model)
