So many posts about critical thinking. I'm starting to get a feeling that this is an important subject in the course...

i definitely need to improve my focus and observation skills in order to improve my critical thinking skills.

I think forcus on observation is the hardest because it is hard to continue listening after you hear one thing that catches your attention and you would like to think more critically about.

I think this a great breakdown on the process.

Value...Relative worth of something. This can be something that is tangible (like a car) or intangible (like an idea). I liked the questions that you asked us during class on what value meant. Sure, it may mean that I think a Babe Ruth Baseball Card has great value, but aside from monetary worth, Value means something that is important to me, like trust or ethical behavior in others. I value that characteristic more than money alone (although money is vital in our society!!!).

This is a great model. After taking a biology class and understanding what is behind research, this gives me a better idea to develop and present a hypothesis.

Because critical thinking is getting past perception, the model provides systematic steps for moving past perceptions. It presents a constructive approach for finding truth, evaluating findings, and arriving at informed decisions.

Critical thinking is a great way to get things started. Thinking opens up your mind on the things you will be talking about.
