I live in the label society of course. What if we could go back to nature and the hunter, gatherer period. We can not stop evolving just as we cannot stop the earth from spinning. Man has an engrained need to reach for the next thing and explore. All of these labels play to our PATHOS.

Unfortunately, most of us all live in an environment that thrives on labels. I knew almost all the labels but none of the plant’s names and wish that wasn’t the case. I love nature and find it fascinating but still know very little about it. If we don’t start pushing how important nature and our environment are to younger generations, they are going to miss out on things that are absolutely fascinating and free to discover.

Definetly name the brands.. sadly people know less and less about their mother nature..the less connected we are with our planet..the worse its going to treat us. :(

How upsetting, I honestly couldn't name the plants. This is proof our minds are corrupted to know of brands and labels off the bat.

Wow! I remember learning a few things on plants but that was years ago! Now with this post, my mind was very familiar with brands. That is just sad! Plants that are unique have their own identity and yet I couldn't identify just one, only that they are all leaves! Sad:(

That’s sad, I can’t name all of the leaves but I can name all of the brands. I will do better.

I agree with Bill. We live in a society that revolves around labels, and classical conditioning.

Schools don't exactly teach you about trees and the kind of leaves they have, and usually most people i know don't discuss trees with their family and friends so i doubt many people actually look to find out themselves. All of the brands are constantly shoved in our faces so we have no choice but to learn them

i know what most the leafs are but do we use them the same way we use or see the add for that stuff on a daily basis?

I named all the brands but, couldn't name one plant. I don't think its such a bad thing but, we should be more educated about the nature around us.

so so sad!! we should know more about this beautiful earth that god gave us!- instead we know the name of every brand, website, company, and man made establishment simply by the logo!! yiyiyi! the world!!

Both are familiar to me. I recently got rid of cable and the lack of commercial advertising has been refreshing. I guess if you bombard the brain with enough commercialism, it will eventually believe it. Nature rules.

Commercialism is rottinng our brains. I'm sad to say that I guessed a few on the plants side and a few came mind, but I'm sure I was wrong. A real wake-up call, but on the plus side I missed the a couple on the left side as well.

The fact that most people who commented above could not name any of the plants could be because where we grew up ( I am only assuming that we all grew up in big cities). I would think that someone that lives in a more isolated town like northern Nevada or other places like that then they might be able to name the plants. They would be more connected to nature than us big city slickers (plus it is harder to get satellite Tv and internet in smaller, isolated towns)

This really puts things into perspective. I would feel better if I could name at least ONE of the plants. xD I need to brush up on my herbology.

It is sad that I know each of those symbols on the left, but couldnt tell you any of these leaves. In society we are so trained to know labels as we are always trying to be sold on buying something yet we lose touch with learning about nature, plants etc. Makes me want to stop and take in more about our earth that learning about what new shoes are coming out to buy.
