Perspective

Woody: YOU! ARE! A! TOYYYYY! You aren't the real Buzz Lightyear! You're...you're an action figure! You are a child's play thing!

Buzz: You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity.

To me the moral of thsi quote is that you are never to small or to "unknown" to not have a voice or an oppinion in something.

I believe everyone has the self confidence though Woody tells Buzz he is a toy he doesn't believe him because he is confident that he is the only Buzz lightyear out there. PERSPECTIVE IS A HUGE PART! But confidence is key.- Cassie Smith

I love how quick people are to point out others situations when infact they don't know their whole history. The life choices we go through are what define us. The best way to kill controversy is will kindness.

I think that this quote shows how closed minded some people can be. What they think and believe is the only way and they are not willing to even concider the other persons view. Everyone needs to be able to open up and listen. You never know when you may be very wrong.

Perhaps the moral of the story even though others don't initially see you as who you are, that does not mean that you are not that person. They just don't know you well enough yet.

I am an extremely stubborn person. No matter what people tell me, I always think and believe what i want. Whether i'm right or wrong, i feel that is a good thing. I guess you can say I am Buzz Lightyear in this picture. No matter what Woody said, all that mattered was he knew he was a space ranger, and he didn't let outside forces interfere. Two different people have two completely different perspectives. I may look at a rock and say, "Hey, a rock". Another person may walk by and say its a priceless sculpture. It all depends on your point of view.

This quote means to me that there will always be someone putting you down or trying to tell you whats what but if you keep you head up and not listen to what others say and believe in yourself and you can do anything.

I think this quote is a very inspiring quote that teaches; There will always be someone out there in the world trying to bring you down and that if you do not let their comments hinder your spirit, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to no matter how big or small you are or how large and complex the challenge is you can do anything.

i loved this movie as a kid and to me woody is telling buzz is the truth although the truth might hurt but it is a necessity. Hurt and pain is a big part of life

Woody is stating his perspective, what he sees in his own eyes. However, did he take the time and read between the lines that perhaps Buzz is really THE Buzz Lightyear?

Ahhh Toy Story, a lot of good memories there. On one side you have Woody telling it how it is. I mean Buzz is a toy, is he not? Honesty may hurt but the truth shall set you free. And on the other side you have Buzz who is confident in his position and believes that he is a Space Ranger, far more than just a toy. Buzz may be a confident Space Ranger but lets face it, he's a toy.

Woody just bluntly stated what he believed and didn't give much consideration to how Buzz would feel simply because he didn't like him. Buzz on the other hand, even after being said that still treated Woody with what i guess some sympathy.

well i believe you can be whatever you want to be, and as long as you believe that you are who you are. no one can make you think otherwise. what other people think does not matter at all, it all comes down to what you believe in

Yes, it's all about perspective. If you belive it it seems real. Buzz only knew of being being BUZZ LIGHTYEAR, so he thought Woody was pretty much crazy and dissmissed what he said.

i believe that the whole dialogue just showed how someone can be telling you the truth or to say an idea other that what you believe and just like buzz people can be closed off and not even consider the possiblity even with his/ her surrounds saying the same as woody

Its only true the moment you stop believing,
Years ago my son Matthew learned that he was not the "only" Matthew, from a mean child at school. He was devastated, he was so distraught that I had him watch this movie in order to soothe his hurt feelings. It worked wonders for him...

Absolute classic! However, this proves that Buzz didn't give up on what he believed; therefore, you shouldn't either!

Go Buzz. Showing confidence and compassion. Who would be the "real" buzz lightyear anyway? Wouldn't he have just been a TV character or something as opposed to a real person?

When someone has faith or belief in some thing be it a deity or one’s own disillusion of themselves or their environment it is improbable if not imposable to change their view. This is where an open mind about the world comes in play if someone can think for themselves they can see through the layers of lies to find the real substance underneath. This is still a fragile matter with people to disillusion someone is not always the best way of dealing with a problem, most people are convinced that they are right no matter what is presented to them.

Sarah Lindekugel com 4049 said...

This is an example of ethnocentrism. Buzz would not listen to woody no matter howmany things he showed him that proved him being a toy. So his "group" (army of buzz lightyears) are not toys they are special agents spacificly trained to fight evil. To behonest its pretty funny.

I am a very firm believer that you can be whoever you want to be. Yes, life circumstances, sociology, blah blah do have an effect on us, but people can chose their own destiny. If you believe you are an A student, you put the in the work, you will be an A student. If your dream is to be an astronaut, (provided you have no physical limitation that would disqualify you) you can do it. I was a high school drop out, not by choice, but I was. So some could say it would be impossible to do the things I have done in life, but I never thought of myself as such. I thought I was simply temporarily detained from completeing my dimploma at that time. In other words, like Buzz, I too was a genuine space ranger, not just a piece of plastic. :)- Jess Kobayashi
